The Informatics Consortium (IC) at IU Indianapolis is seeking applications for a Faculty Fellow. This new appointment is ideal for a full-time IU Indianapolis faculty member interested in contributing to the development of innovative and high impact informatics research on the Indianapolis campus.
The Faculty Fellow will facilitate the development of interdisciplinary teams and support extramural research proposals that will perform exciting and transformative research on the IU Indianapolis campus. The Fellow will work closely with the IC Director, Dr. Brian Dixon, to identify colleagues across campus who can successfully work together to apply for funding and support the development of funding proposals that can be submitted to NSF, NIH, and other research funding opportunities.
Responsibilities include:
- Facilitating communication and collaboration with faculty across multiple schools on the Indianapolis campus to form interdisciplinary research teams.
- Support identification of funding opportunities for interdisciplinary research teams to pursue.
- Support the development and submission of informatics-related research funding proposals by interdisciplinary teams, even when the Fellow is not a named investigator or collaborator.
- Provide leadership to the IC and campus in communicating, selecting, and managing internal IC funding opportunities to support team development and innovative pilot projects.
- Participate in the planning of campus-wide IC events designed to bring faculty together to form teams, strategically discuss funding opportunities, and advance innovative ideas.
- Attend IC events on the Indianapolis campus.
To apply, complete an application by October 15, 2024. One Fellow will be selected for the 2024-2025 academic year with an option for a second year based on performance.
Fellows are expected to provide 3-4 hours of service each week during the academic year. For service to the campus, the Faculty Fellow will receive $7,500 to use for summer pay or professional development, such as conference travel, purchase of datasets, or lab equipment.

The IC was formed during the 2023-2024 academic year in support of the Indianapolis campus goals to increase high impact research. The IC exists to stimulate team development and submission of impactful informatics research across schools and departments. The IC supports the missions and activities of the new research institutes, CBATI and H2W. The IC also helps the Indianapolis campus establish a strong national reputation for high quality, impactful informatics research.
